The Asset Allocation Process

The future growth and income potential of a portfolio, as well as exposure to potential risks is determined by portfolio asset allocation. The primary factors in determining how we allocate your assets consist of your time horizon, risk tolerance and long term goals. As these factors change throughout your life, we will adjust your asset allocation accordingly.

Our Investments

We have access to and are in close communication with a wide selection of investment managers across every major asset class. The due diligence and review of these managers is two-fold. In addition to a review by the Wells Fargo Investment Institute, The Pidgeon Group conducts its own review and selects a core group of fund managers that complement our individual security selection of bonds, equities, preferred stocks and real estate investment trusts. The Pidgeon Group implements both fundamental and technical analysis, conducted through Dorsey Wright and Associates and other sources, in their investment research. Our review also includes the investment performance of the managers versus their respective benchmarks.

Wells Fargo Investment Institute, Inc. is a registered investment adviser and wholly-owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Company and provides investment advice to Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Wells Fargo Advisors and other Wells Fargo affiliates. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. is a bank affiliate of Wells Fargo & Company.

Wells Fargo Advisors’ Envision application is an effective, easy to understand process designed to help you select and achieve your most important financial goals. Your current financial situation and life goals can be stress-tested using the Envision application’s sophisticated statistical modeling.

The objective of the Envision process is to allow you to live your life without undue compromise to your current or future lifestyle, and without taking unnecessary investment risk. The Envision process allows you and The Pidgeon Group to continually monitor and test your progress throughout your life, always answering the key question: How am I doing?

The Envision Process

Important: The projections or other information generated by Envision regarding the likelihood or various investment outcomes are hypothetical in nature, do not reflect actual investment results and are not guarantees of future results. Results may vary with each use and over time.

Envision® methodology: Based on accepted statistical methods, the Envision tool uses a simulation model to test your Ideal, Acceptable and Recommended Investment Plans. The simulation model uses assumptions about inflation, financial market returns and the relationships among these variables. These assumptions were derived from analysis of historical data. Using Monte Carlo simulation, the Envision tool simulates 1,000 different potential outcomes over a lifetime of investing varying historical risk, return, and correlation amongst the assets. Some of these scenarios will assume strong financial market returns, similar to the best periods of history for investors. Others will be similar to the worst periods in investing history. Most scenarios will fall somewhere in between.
